About Us

Bridging the gap between international medical training and Canadian medical practice.

Who We Are

Brown & Young Advisors was founded with a clear and focused mission: to bridge the gap between international medical training and Canadian medical practice. At the heart of our firm is a deep understanding of the challenges international medical graduates (IMGs) face when navigating Alberta's complex physician licensure landscape.

Leadership You Can Trust

Danielle Brown Kelly, Principal Advisor and Founder of Brown & Young Advisors

Danielle Brown Kelly

Principal Advisor and Founder

Danielle Brown Kelly brings over 20 years of specialized experience in physician licensing and regulatory processes in Alberta. Her career has been shaped by hands-on work with international medical graduates across a wide range of jurisdictions, providing her with rare, insider-level insight into the realities of CPSA registration, MCCQE examinations, credential verification, and provincial approval pathways.

Danielle's expertise is not theoretical—it is built on decades of direct involvement in assessing applications, interpreting regulatory requirements, and guiding physicians through some of the most intricate licensing systems in Canada. She understands not only the rules, but how they are applied in practice.

Our Mission

We know that for many internationally trained physicians, the dream of practicing medicine in Alberta is often clouded by uncertainty—complex CPSA regulations, daunting MCCQE exams, unclear timelines, and opaque credentialing processes. Brown & Young Advisors exists to remove that uncertainty.

"Our mission is to provide clear, transparent, and efficient physician pathways, empowering skilled doctors to move forward with confidence. We believe that no physician should feel lost or unsupported while trying to contribute their expertise to Alberta's healthcare system."

Our Process

A clear, structured approach that takes you from uncertainty to confident forward motion.

1

Initial Consultation

We begin with a free, focused consultation to understand your medical training, current licensure status, specialty, and goals. This conversation gives us the information we need to identify which Alberta licensing pathways are realistically available to you and what the next steps should be.

2

Pathway Assessment & Planning

We conduct a thorough review of your credentials, training history, and eligibility across all applicable CPSA pathways—including the Approved Jurisdiction Route, Practice Readiness Assessment, and specialty-specific routes. We then build a personalized roadmap with realistic timelines, required documentation, and exam requirements tailored to your specific situation.

3

Application & Documentation Support

We guide you through the credential verification process, CPSA application submission, and MCC examination scheduling. Incomplete or incorrectly assembled applications are among the most common causes of licensing delays—our guidance ensures your submission is complete and properly organized from the outset.

4

Ongoing Advisory Support

Licensing is not a single event—it is a multi-year process with multiple decision points. We remain available to you throughout your journey, answering questions as they arise, helping you respond to CPSA requests, and adjusting your strategy if circumstances change. Our goal is to be the trusted advisor you can turn to at every stage.

Why Physicians Choose B&Y Advisors

Insider Regulatory Knowledge

Our principal advisor spent over two decades working directly within Alberta's physician licensing system. She does not just know the rules—she understands how they are applied in practice, what CPSA looks for in applications, and how to position your profile for the strongest possible outcome.

Personalized, Not Generic

Every physician we work with receives guidance specific to their background, training country, specialty, and goals. We do not offer one-size-fits-all advice. The pathway that is right for a UK GP with 10 years of NHS experience is different from the pathway right for a South African surgeon or a US-trained internist.

Clarity at Every Step

Many physicians arrive having spent months trying to piece together information from CPSA websites, online forums, and well-meaning colleagues—only to end up more confused. We cut through the noise and give you a direct, accurate understanding of what you need to do, in what order, and why.

Proven Track Record

We have helped physicians from the United Kingdom, South Africa, India, Nigeria, Australia, the United States, and many other countries successfully navigate the Alberta licensing process. Our clients include GPs, family physicians, hospitalists, surgeons, and specialists across a wide range of disciplines.
